A paper piece copyright problem (solved)

Free Bitty Block pattern of Quilt Art Design

First of all welcome to my new followers. Thank you for your interest in my posts.
This week I have a copyright problem.
I downloaded a free 'Bitty Block'  cat pattern. The block is 4 inch and I wanted to sew a 10 inch block. I posted a picture of the block and give the credit to the designer of the block, Janeen van Niekerk, and placed a link to het website Quilt Art design. I could have enlarge the pattern with a photocopy, but I used EQ7. I used EQ7 to learn how I made patterns with EQ7. Janeen mailed me to say that I need her permission to enlarge this free pattern with EQ7. She hoped I learned a lesson, but I do not understand. Almost every quilter resizes block patterns to fit a quilt without the permission of the designer.
Question 1: Is it forbidden to enlarge a pattern?
Question 2: If not: is it forbidden to enlarge the pattern with software and not by photocopy? The effect is the same.
Question 3: When you use a paper piece pattern, you make a copy for every block, because you can not reuse the pattern. I read on a website with information about copyright that it is not allowed to make a copy of a pattern. Do you need to buy the pattern for every paper pieced block? And what about using freezing paper. One copy can be used several times!?!?
Does anybody knows the anwers? Because I do not understand why Janeen of Quilt Art Design is so mad.

Deze week had ik een probleem met copyrights. Ik heb het gratis 'Bitty block' patroon van Janeen van  Quilt Art design gedownload. The Bitty blokken zijn 4 inch en ik heb het patroon met EQ7 vergroot tot 10 inch. Ik had het patroon ook vergroot kunnen uitprinten.  Janeen mailde me dat ik het patroon niet had mogen vergroten met EQ7 zonder haar toestemming. Ze hoopte dat ik een lesje had geleerd. Ik snap het niet. Ik zie toch veel quilters patronen aanpssen aan de maat van hun quilt.
Vraag 1: Is het verboden om de grootte van een patroon aan te passen?
Vraag 2; Als het niet verboden is, is het dan wel verboden om het met de computer te doen? En wat as ik freezer paper gebruik. Een kopietje kan dan meerdere keren gebruikt worden.
Vraag 3: Als ik een papieren paperpiecepatroon maak, dan moet je voor elk blok een copy maken. Als dat niet mag, moet je dan voor elk blok een nieuw patroon kopen?
Weet iemand het antwoord, want ik snap echt niet waarom Janeen van Quilt Art design zo boos is.

Update: The answers are clear: you may copy and enlarge a pattern for own use. It makes no difference in which way you change or enlarge the pattern. You do not need permission.
My advise when you use a pattern and you blog about it: Give the artist all credits and link to the website, so more sewers can met the artist and her or his work.

Update: Het antwoord is simpel en duidelijk. Je mag een patroon voor eigen gebruik kopieren en vergroten of verkleinen. Het maakt niet uit hoe je dat doet en je hebt er geen toestemming voor nodig.
Mijn advies, als je patronen gebruikt en erover blogt: Geef alle eer aan de artiest en link naar de website, zodat meer quilters de artiest en zijn of haar werk leren kennen.

Besides the copy right issue I had a lot of fun with EQ7 and paper piecing patterns. This week I will test my patterns and make them available for download.I need to find out how I do that with a PDF printer.

Naast the copyrightproblemen heb ik met veel plezier geleerd om paperpiecingpatronen te maken met EQ7. Van de week ga ik de patronen uittesten en geschikt te maken om te downloaden. Even uitzoeken hoe ik dat doe met een PDF-printer.

I already sewed some blocks with my patterns, and made placemates with the blocks. Enough space for some fmq fun. It will be a gift to my eldest daughter in law.

Ik heb al een aantal blokken van mijn patronen genaaid en er placemats van gemaakt voor mijn oudste schoondochter. Er blijft genoeg ruimte op de placemats over om uitde vrije hand te quilten. Dat vind ik toch het leukste van alles.

Matisse mini

What seems to be a flue was a pneumonia. I always go to the dokter a little too late. A friend told me, that some of her friends did not recover of a flue and suffered a pneunomia. I did not believe I had a pneumonia, but finally I went to the doctor and she gave me medication. I never knew coughing could be so painfull!!! With the medication I am recovering well and quick. It is nice to have a reason to be in bed when you are so tired. My daughters and husband were so kind for me and now I am almost recovered. Tomorrow I will spent the day with my daughters and granddaughters!! I am looking forward to it and will enjoy it.

Wat een griep leek, was een longontsteking. Ik ga altijd te laat naar de dokter, maar toen een vriending van me vertelde, dat enkele van haar vrienden na een griep ziek bleven en longontsteking bleken te hebben, ben ik toch maar gegaan. Ik kreeg medicijnen en nu ben ik aan het opknappen. Wat kan hoesten pijn doen!! Nooit geweten. Toch is het heerlijk om in bed te liggen als je je zo beroerd voelt. Mijn dochters en man waren schatten voor me en ik ben al bijna opgeknapt.
Morgen ben ik samen met mijn dochters en hun dochters. Ik kijk er naar uit. Na zo ziek geweest te zijn, kan ik zo genieten van de gewone dingen.

Easy! Kate loves to eat and she likes everything.

It is impossible for me to do nothing. My sewing machine was on the table and I find moments to sew a little. No piecing or free motion quilting, just binding the pile with sketchbook pages.  No thinking while sewing, just routine stitching. Yesterday, on my husbands birthday, we had a quiet day with no visitors. I enjoyed some free motion quilting and finished two Matisse mini's. I planned to use black for the quilting, but multicolored yellow seems a better choice. I think it is a good choice. I used the shapes of the applique for the free motion quilting pattern. It is fun to embroider Matisse signature!

Ook als ik ziek ben, moet ik af en toe wat om handen hebben. De naaimachine stond heel de week op tafel. Geen ingewikkeld naaien, maar af en toe heb ik wat schetsboek pagina's afgebiesd. Gisteren was mijn man jarig, maar het bezoek komt over enkele weken. Ik heb voor het eerst weer wat genaaid. Ik wilde de Matisse mini's met zwart quilten, maar heb gelukkig multicolor geel gebruikt. Ik
denk dat het een goede keuze was. Ik heb de vormen van de applicaties in het quiltpatroon terug laten komen.

Het is leuk om Matisse handtekening te borduren.

ZebraZ and more ZebraZ!!!!

First of all welcome to my new followers!
Allereerst een welkom voor mijn nieuwe volgers!

I recieved yesterday a picture from my old neighbour and good friend  It shows the childs of her son on a elephantparade quilt. (pattern: Sew Fresh Quilt) They are a happy family now  with their baby daughter after a lot of sorrow. They were so surprised and glad when they recieved the quilt from an old neighbour. I am glad they love the quilt and use it with joy.

Ik heb gisteren een foto gekregen van de zoon van mijn oude buurvrouw en goede vriendin. Op de 'Elephantparade' quilt (patroon Sew Fresh Quilt) zitten zijn kinderen. Heerlijk hun kinderen na een hoop narigheid en verxriet van hun ouders zo te zien zitten. Ze waren blij verrast toen zij de quilt van een vroegere buurvrouw kregen. Ik ben blij dat ze de quilt mooi vinden en gebruiken.

Today it is the birthday of our king and a lot of streets are decorated in orange and crowded with people wearing orange outfits. Especially in Amsterdam there are a lot of festivities and the whole city it is very crowded. Too much for us, so we stayed at home.

Omdat het vandaag op koningsdag zo druk is in Amsterdam zijn we thuis gebleven.

It was all ZebraZ this week!!! I have a big pile with twenty ZebraZ. (pattern: Sew Fresh Quilts) When I am piecing, I make a lot of mistakes,....... so it takes a lot of time. I wanted to enlarge the Zebraz pattern and change it a little bit, to sew a ZebraZ father or mother, but this ZebraZ are so big, so I changed my mind. I will sew two toddlers quilts. One for grandson Huub and one for myself to lay little Kate on when she is with me. When I sew my 20th Zebra I thought I did not want to sew any Zebra ever. But for the second toddles quilt I need to sew 12 more Zebraz!!!! That will be next week. This week it will be thinking about a border for my first ZebraZ-top, Matisse applique and free motion quilting. So we need to go to the Matisse exhibition in The Museum of Amsterdam

Het waren van de week hier alleen maar Zebraz!!! Ik heb nu een stapel met twintig Zebraz  (patroon Sew Fresh Quilt) Ik wilde het patroon vergroten en aanpassen om een vader of moeder Zebra te maken, maar het wordt te groot. Deze kleine Zebraz-blokken zijn al groot (30 cm x36 cm).  Ik wil twee kleuterquilts naaien. Een voor onze kleinzoon Huub en een voor mezelf, voor als kleine Kate bij ons is. Ik had het idee dat ik even geen Zebraz meer kon zien, maar ik ga er toch maar twaalf bij maken. Maar deze week eerst nadenken over de rand van de eerste ZebraZ  top, Matisse-applique en wat quilten uit de vrije hand voor mijn schetsboek. Dat betekent dat we deze week eerst naar de Matisse tentoonstelling in het Stedelijk museum gaan.

What went wrong?? I had twenty different fabrics, so all my Zebraz should
be different. But two are the same?! I will have to replace one of the ZebraZ!

I started already with the Matisse Applique. A nice way to use the scraps of my Mifty baby quilts. The right colors for Matisse.

Ik ben al begonnen met de apllicaties van Matisse. Kom ik ook af van mij Nijntje-babyquilts restjes katoen. De juiste kleuren voor Matisse.

ZebraZ quilt and sketchbook

My first ZebraZ-block. 

Lot of birthdays this week, but there was a little bit time to sew. I am busy with collecting black and white fabrics for a ZebraZ-quilt. It is a block of Laran of Sew Fresh Quilts Her tutotial is as always excellent. I have twenty different fabrics untill yet, so I will sew 20 ZebraZ blocks at least. I am thinking about a father and mother ZebraZ block with zebra stripes. I will call the quilt "What is wrong with our DNA?". My table if full with cutted fabric. !! It is funny and everybody knows it, but I find out better piecing comes with practice too. I still make mistakes, but far less than with piecing my elephants. Hurray!!!! But the head of the ZebraZ needs some attention. 

Veel verjaardagen van de week, maar er was toch tijd om wat te naaien. Ik zoek lappenwinkels waar ik kom af voor lapjes met wit en zwarte prints voor mijn ZebraZ-quilt. Het block is van Lorna van Sew Fresh Quilts. De tutorial is zoals altijd uitstekend. Ik heb tot nu toe twintig verschillende lapjes, dus het worden minimaal 20 blokken. Er komen nog een wat grotere vader en moeder ZebraZ bij en het quilt krijgt de naam: "Wat is wrong with our DNA?". Mijn tafel ligt vol met gesneden lapjes! 

Het is grappig en iedereen weet het al, maar ik ontdek dat het naaien van blokken ook beter gaat naarmate je meer blokken naait!. I maak nog steeds fouten, maar veel minder dan met de olifanten. Hoera!!! Maar kijkend naar de foto. zie ik dat er nog even naar het hoofd gekeken moet worden.

When I am babysitting by my husbands sun on monday I bring my sewing machine and a empty sketchbook page with me. When little Guus is sleeping (and he sleeps a lot) I can sew for my sketchbook, It is save for Guus when he is crawling on the floor, because I do not need pins. This sampler is one of the last pages with the theme circles.

Als ik appas bij de zoon van mijn man op maandag, neem ik mijn naaimachine en een lege schetsboek pagina mee. Als kleine Guus slaapt, kan ik naaien. Het is veilig voor Guus, want ik heb dan geen spelden nodig. Hij kan dus veilig kruipen over de vloer. Deze pagina is een van de laatsten met het thema cirkels.

Matisse and Sketchbook fun (Somebody likes to join?)

This collage you can see on posters all over Amsterdam.

In the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam is a Matisse exhibition. When I see the poster, I want to sew a big apllique wall hanging in Matisse style. So we have to go to the museum soon. I did not knew this cut out work of Matisse, but I love the colors.

In het Stedelijk is een tentoonstelling van Matisse. Overal in de stad hangen posters met een deel van het grote schilderij op de muur. Als ik het zie, wil ik beginnen aan een groot quilt in Matisse stijl. We moeten dus snel een bezoek brengen aan het museum. Ik ken dit 'knipwerk' van Matisse niet!! De kleuren zijn zo mooi.

I worked on my fmq sketchbook. It is so much fun. I am so surprised about the look of circles, yarn and colors on black fabric. Another advantage is improving my fmq skills. Yesterdy I sewed two pages and I had the feeling of controle with high speed.  A 5 m piece of black fabric is cutted and I have 16 pages of more fun stitching. But today I decided to do white pages too. For me white pages are 'intimidating' and they blcok me, but I feel I must give it a try. I looked on the Internet for inspiration and I hope I found some.
Is there anybody who likes to join me for some sketchbook fun together! Let me know.

Ik heb aan mij fmq schetsboek gewerkt. Ik ben verbaasd over hoe een paar simple gekleurde cirkels eruit zien op zwarte katoen. Een groot voordeel is dat ik zo ook weer beter quilt uit de vrije hand. Ik heb twee bladzijden gedaan en was verbaasd over de controle bij grote snelheid. Een lap van 5 m zwarte katoen is in 16 nieuwe pagina's gesneden. Maar vandaag heb ik besloten om toch ook witte pagina;s te maken, hoewel witte pagina's mij blokkeren en ik niets kan bedenken. Ik ga het toch proberen en heb op internet gezocht voor inspiratie.
Is er iemand die ook wil werken aan een fmq schetsboek? Laat het weten.

Je suis Charlie: quilting

Whole day there is news about what happened in Paris. I am always confused with terrorism. The victims are innocent people who left home without knowing they will be an victims within a few houres. The wrong place and wrong time .....  Their families have to deal with a lot of grieve the rest of their lives. Terrible. We have dear moslim friends. It has nothing to do with religion. Everybody has the right to believe or not to beleive and to speak.

De hele dag is er nieuws over de afschuwelijke gebeurtenissen in Frankrijk. Ik ben er altijd stil van als ik bedenk dat onschuldige mensen 's ochtends hun huis verlaten en er geen idee hebben dat zij binnen een paar uur onschuldige slachtoffers zijn van tereur. Hun families hebben er mee te leven de rest van hun leven. Wij hebben goede moslimvrienden. Het heeft niets met godsdienst te maken. Iedereen mag geloven of niet en om te spreken.

Our youngest granddaughter Kate found her thumb! 

My youngest daughter lives not far from us in Amsterdam, I go to her a few times a week to take care of little Kate for a few hours, She can smile so precious!!! It makes my day.

Ik ga een paar keer per week naar kleine Kate. Mijn dochter woont niet ver van me ook hier in Amsterdam. Kate lacht al zo lief. Daar kan ik zo van genieten.

SewCalGal has a 2015 free motion quilting challenge. It is about improving free motion quilting skills with quilting pillows. I did the 2013 challenge and had a lot of fun and learned a lot. So I am so happy to join the 2015 challenges. This week I made the first pillowcover. A heart with a design of Luann Kessi. Every free motion quilter had to look in her wonderful  sketchbook for inspiration I draw and sew a lot of het designs already just for fun.
I am glad there is a 2015 fmq challenge. It will be so inspiring to see the pillows of all the quilters how join the challenge.

SewCalGal heeft weer een quilt uitdaging voor 2015. Ik heb zoveel geleerd van de uitdaging van 2013 en zo plezier gehad van de opdrachten, dat ik besloten heb dit jaar weer mee te doen. Dit jaar worden er allemaal kussenhoezen gemaakt. Deze maand o.a. een ontwerp van Luann Kessi. Ik heb me al vaak door haar schetsboek met ontwerpen laten inspireren en daar veel pezier mee gehad.
Ik ben blij met de nieuwe uitdaging. Het is zo leuk om te zoen wat anderen van de opdracht maken.

First challenge of  Januari: 

I made a miniquilt inspired by a picture of Free motion at the river. Is is with parfait dyes fabric. My design was quite diffecult, so the second mini quilt is a improved version another design which is more easy to sew. It is made of anothere fat quarter of the same parfait dyeing fun. I will publish the pattern soon.\\

Ik heb een mini quilt gemaakt van een quiltje dat ik zag op de website van Free motion at the river. Het patroon is erg ingewikkeld en daarom nu aangepast, zodat ht eenvoudiger te naaien is. De lappen van beide quiltjes komen uit dezelfde fles van het verven. Ik zal snel  het patroon op mijn blog zetten.

 The scraps  of the fiirst miniquilt were enough for an 11 inch by 11 inch block.  I had just enough fabric to sew the second mini quilt.
Iwill make more of these blocks with scraps of dyed fabric. May be it will be a rainbow quilt.

Van de restjes van de eerste quilt heb ik een blok gemaakt. (11 inch x 11 inch) Ik ga meer van deze blokken maken van restje geverfd katoen. Misschien wordt dat een regenboog quilt.

Renovating the bathroom/De badkamer verbouwen

Past week two very hard working experts had been busy renovating the bathroom. We hired a Dutch company, but the men working at our bathroom are Victor from Russia and Pavel from Latvia.Very skilled and very friendly. They love my coffee and home made cake and cookies. I can laugh with Victor, who speaks Dutch and English as well, and Pavel is always looking worried about my wishes and explains what is possible and what is not possible. Almost everything is possible.  They clean up every evening and return every morning very early. But there is a lot of dust in the house. So I have to dust every day. Buying and deciding all the sanitair costs a lot of time. There is always unexpted decissions to make. I had to buy everything on the Internet!!! But I am happy to go to the showroom in Amsterdam, where skilled men advise me before ordering.

De hele week zijn we bezig geweest met de renovatie van onze badkamer. Hoewel we met een Nederlands bedrijf werken, doen Victor uit Rusland en Pavel uit Letland het werk. Ze werken goed, zorgvuldig en netjes. Elke avond ruimen ze op en 's ochtends vroeg bellen ze weer aan. Met Victor, die Nederlands en Engels spreekt,  kan ik grappen maken en Pavel heeft altijd een zorgelijke trek bij elk voorstel of wens. Hij legt altijd uit wat wel of niet kan en lijkt me heel redelijk. Maar uiteindelijk komt hij met voorstellen, zodat bijna alles kan wat we willen. Maar wat gaat er een tijd zitten in iedere keer het huis stofvrij maken. Ook het kopen van het sanitair kost tijd. Er zijn zoveel dingen waaraan je moet denken. Ook dit koop je tegenwoordig op Internet, maar gelukkig is er een showroom in Amsterdam, waar ik uitstekend geholpen wordt voor ik de spullen bestel.

The shower! In twoo weeks I can take a shower.

Together with my granddaughter I discovered swimming again, but only in warm water! I always thought there was only cold water in the swimming pools! I hate jumping in cold water! But I love the warm water pool and I intend to swim every week a few times. The swimming pool is almost next door! It is a very old, but next to it, they are building a new beautiful swimming pool. On the walls in the old swimming pool are funny paintings. It make me think of new quilt projects with funny elephants and caterpillars.

Met mijn kleindochter heb ik het zwemmen weer ontdekt, maar nu in warm water! Ik dacht dat al het water in zwembaden nog altijd koud was! Ik ga nu in de strijd tegen de kilootjes elke week een paar keer zwemmen, heerlijk! Het zwembad vlakbij ons is oud, maar ernaast verschijnt al een prachtig nieuw bad. In het oude bad staan op de muur allemaal grappige tekeningen van bijvoorbeeld een olifant of duizendpoot. Ik moet daarbij steeds aan nieuwe quiltprojecten denken.


Dieting is difficult with friends from Maroc, Iran and Irak. My husband helps some students from university better understanding , better speaking and writing  Dutch. Sometimes they have diner with us and sometimes they cook for us. This weekend we went to Simo from Maroc. He and his Dutch girlfriend cooked delicious tajine withquince fruit for us and they made a delicious cheese cake with orange blossom water.
Hodda from Iran and het Iraqui husband eated with us. We cooked a Indonesian rice table for them. There are a lot of Durch peaple with roos in Indonesia, that's why Indonisian food is popular in The Netherlands. And of course it is delicious.
I swimmed three times last week and keep me diet, but I lost  no weight! Have to try it again this week.

De strijd tegen de kilo's is moeilijk met vrienden die uit Marokko, Irak en Iran komen. Mijn man helpt oudere, integrerende studenten met Nederlands voor hun studie en scripties. Zij komen af en toe bij ons eten of wij eten bij hen. Dit weekend hebben we bij Simo uit Marokko en zijn Neerlandse vriending heerlijk Marokaans gegeten. Hodda en Saïd uit Iran en Iraq hebben bij ons Indonesisch gegeten. Het hele effect van een week lijnen en zwemmen is weg!

I had to little  time to sew this week, but I have made two mini quilts of the bonus-fabric I dyed at the workshop of Will Opio Oguto. The inspiration of the design is an art quilt made by Will too. Follow the link and you will see this beautiful quilt/ I had just enough fabric for the tops and binding. The back is a green shade cotton, also dyed at the workshop. I used red and green thread for the quilting.
My husband said that the quilts are my first ''art guilts'. How sweet he can be!!!!

Ik had weinig tijd om te naaien deze week, maar ik heb toch deze twee miniquilts gemaakt van mijn geverfde lap op de workshop van  Will Opio Oguto. De inspiratie van het design van the miniquilts zijn ook van Wil. Volg de link en je ziet haar prachtige vogelquilt. De lap was net groot genoeg voor de top en de bies, de achterkant is lap in een lichtgroene kleur, ook van de workshop. Ik heb rood en groen garen gebruikt voor het quilten.
Mijn man merkte op dat hij deze twee quiltjes meer 'kunstwerken' vond. Wat kan hij soms lief zijn!!!!

Next week I like to sew a little bit more. I make a play quilt with four small VW-busses My daughter wants them in the same color as het wall quilt VW-bus. I have really soft woolen batting. I bought it in this excellent quiltshop: Mariana's quiltcorner.

Volgende week ga ik een boxkleed maken voor de baby van mijn dochter die over een maand geboren wordt. Vier VW-bussen erop in dezelfde kleur als haar VW-bus-wandkleed. Ik heb nog heerlijk wollen tussenvulling, gekocht in Marina's quiltcorner in Bilthoven.

A new project with VW-busses: a playmat for my pregnant daughter.

I want to make a 38 x 24 inch sampler with graffitty patterns. Just to practice new patterns.  I will use beautiful multicolored Superior thread. I need to draw a lot in my sketchbook too. Some patterns are easy to sew, but for some I need to 'train' my eye hand coordination. Of course I will try some wonderful patterns of my color book for adults.

Ik ga een 60 x 80 cm proeflap quilten met graffitty patronen. Daarvoor moet ik veel tekenen, omdat niet alle patronen even makkelijk voor me zijn. Voor veel patronen moet ik mijn oog-hand-coordinatie trainen. Natuurlijk haal ik veel patroontjes uit mijn kleurboek voor volwassenen.

That's life

A quiet week. We looked for houses and visited the two houses on our list, but we did not decided which house we will go for.
Yesterday I had dinner with a dear friend. We lived next to each other when we raised our children. She is divorcing after 42 years of marriage! Of course another woman. She is strong but it is a sad story. Her husband is so out of character now, that she is happy to divorce, but there is a lot of sadness. A 42 years marriage has a lot of good moments. When my husband left me after 25 years of marriage, I missed those little moments too. Looking proud together to the children, Sunday breakfast, riding in the car together ........
But both our husbands seemed to have secrets that drove them away from there marriage. Things we both heard about after our marriage. When we had known,  we have ended our marriages years before. I still wonder how someone can stay in a marriage with those secrets and lies and talking about love?I am afraid I will never find the answer. But lives go on and I have a wonderful husband and I love the suns and their wives who came with him. Two more grandchilds and another one within two months! Women are strong. My friend is strong too!

Een rustig weekje. We hebben de huizen bekeken waar we in  geïnteresseerd zijn maar nog geen beslissing genomen.
Gisteren uit eten geweest met een vriendin. We woonden naast elkaar toen onze kinderen opgroeiden. Na 42 jaar huwelijk is haar man vertrokken.Ze is sterk, maar het blijft triest. Het is nu een compleet andere man en ze zou niet langer met hem getrouwd willen zijn nu, maar het blijft triest. In 42 jaar huwelijk heb je ook gelukkige momenten. Toen mijn man me naar 25 jaar huwelijk verliet, miste ik ook het meest die kleine dingen. Samen trots naar de kinderen kijken, het ontbijt zondagś , samen rijden in de auto......
Maar beide echtgenoten hadden geheimen die beide uiteindelijk weg dreven uit hun  huwelijk.  Als we het geweten hadden, hadden we beide ons huwelijk jaren eerder beëindigd! I vraag me altijd af, hoe iemand in een huwelijk an blijven met zulke geheimen en leugens en doen alsof ze van iemand houden? Ik zal wel nooit het antwoord vinden.Maar het leven gaat verder. Ik heb een fijne man  en met hem zijn zijn zoons en vrouwen in mijn leven gekomen, met schatten van kleinkinderen. Vrouwen zijn sterk en mijn vriendin is ook sterk!

But although the pain  we enjoyed our evening together. We had dinner in a small wine bar. They have excellent wines and some delicious food. I love their goat cheese croquettes.

Toch hebben we genoten van ons etentje in een klein wijnbarretje in Hilversum.
Daar heb je heerlijke wijnen en een kleine kaart met heerlijke gerechten. Ik ben gek op de geitenkaascroquetten.

Of course I had my sewing machine on the table. I had to finish a border for a medaillion quilt swap. I received a beautiful star center piece made by a professional. It was of course paper pieced. I shopped for matching fabrics at my local quilt shop. I made a border with eight paper pieced points.  Points in the corners and in the middle of the borders. It was my very first paper piecing. It looks so easy on You Tube tutorials!!!! But after two days!!! of sewing the star with border is ready to send away for another border.

I am pleased with the result and the fabrics, but I cannot show it to you. But I will show you my first ever paper pieced  blocks.

Natuurlijk heb ik de naaimachine op tafel gehad. Ik heb een rand genaaid aan een prachtig block met een ster voor een 'Medaillion quilt swap'. Aan de prachtige ster moest ik een rand van 2 inch naaien. Ik heb voor het eerst blokjes gemaakt met paper piecing. Dat is toch niet zo makkelijk als het lijkt op een you tube filmpje. De stoffen die passen bij de ster heb ik gevonden bij Quiltshop de Bricoleur in tuindorp Oostzaan. Ik ben toch tevreden over het resultaat, maar ik heb er ookj twee dagen over gedaan! Helaas kan ik voorlopig alleen de blokjes laten zien. De top is nu onderweg naar Israel voor de volgende rand.

Other finishes this week are postcards and blocks for my quilt along. I had a lot of trouble with my machine. I used about ten needles! I had to rip out a lot of stitches, put the thread through the needle again and again and used my screw driver a lot. Yesterday I decide enough is enough and brought my machine to the store. It will last 14 days!!!! That is too long. But I saw how busy they were so protesting would be not fair. I had to find another solution. The good thing: I have more time for house hunting.


Van de week heb ik verder kaarten en blokken voor de quilt along genaaid. Het was doffe ellende met een naaimachine die steeds vastliep, naalden die braken en draad wat steeds weer ingeregen moest worden. Ik heb heel wat steken uit moeten halen en tien nieuwe naalden gebruikt! Gisteren heb ik mijn naaimachine weggebracht. Het duurt veertien!!! dagen voor ik de machine terug krijg. Maar protesteren had geen zin. Ik zag de enorme stapel gerepareerde machines en de stapel die weer klaar stond voor reparatie. Ik moet iets anders verzinnen, maar heb nu genoeg tijd voor het zoeken naar een huis.

I pieced this blocks on my old machine (Husqvarna 2000). It is a better piecer than my Husqvarna Emerald.

Ik heb deze blokken genaaid met mijn oude Husqvarna 2000 die ik naar de kringloop wilde brengen. Maar het ging veel beter dan met mijn Husqvarna Emerald!
