Happy birthday Anneloes

It is my youngest daughter birthday today. Happy birthday Anneloes!!! Many happy years with little Kate and Joost!!!

Vandaag is mijn jongste dochter jarig. Fijne vrjaardag Anneloes en nog vele jaren met Joost en Kate.

My daughter has two funny quineafowls on her table. Her husband brought the birds from Africa. This birds have a funny Dutch name 'Poelepetaat". I had to made a pattern of this bird and made two mini's for my daughter as a birthday present. I will make a small one for Kate. That will not be easy, because this 9 x 6 inch tested bird pattern has already very tiny pieces!!

Mijn dochter heeft twee grappige 'poelepetaatjes' op haar tafel, die haar man Joost heft meegenomen uit Afrika. Ik moest er een patroon van maken en heb er twee mini's van gemaakt voor mijn dochter. 
Ik ga nog een kleintje maken voor Kate, maar dat zal niet makkelijk zijn, want deze 9 x 6 inch grote poelepataat heeft al hele kleine stukjes.

Mad cow family patterns

Welcome Thom!!

We had been waiting another long week for this little quy, Thom, another grandchild. Healthy and looking into the world!! His brother Guus and his parents are very proud. It is a sweet, quiet litlle quy. And we are happy, because soon we may take care of him every tuesday!!! So fun to see him grow. Every week something new to see.

We hebben een extra week lang moeten wachten op dit kleine jochie: Thom. Nog een kleinkind. Zijn broer Guus en zijn ouders zijn ontzettend trots en gelukkig. Het is een zoet, rustig jongetje. We boffen, want we mogen over drie maandjes elke dinsdag op hem passen. Zo leuk een kind zo te ien opgroeien. Elke week iets anders.

Mad bulls

Is this not a bull?

When I post the pattern for my mad bull, someone commented thatit is not a bull. I do not know why, because the pattern was drawn with the picture off a bull. But I know some bulls looks more dangerous thand my first one. So I made another pattern of the nephew a my bull. 

Toen ik een patroon postte voor mijn gekke stier, vertelde iemand in zijn commentaar dat het geen stier was. Ik begreep het niet, want voor het patroon gebruikte ik een foto van een stier. Maar ik begrijp dat deze stier er niet zo gevaarlijk uitziet. Daarom een patroon ook voor de neef in de familie. Ik hoop dat die gevaarlijk genoeg is voor iedereen. 

Something is wrong!!

When I finished de MadBull2 block, I saw I made a mistake with the mouth of the bull. So I took my seamripper and ripped some seams. Another 15 minutes and the bull looks OK. My best friends with paper piecing are my seamripper and an old credit card.

Toen ik mijn stier af had, zag ik dat de mond omgekeerd zat. Dus weer mijn tornmesje gepakt en na vijftien minuten zag mijn stier er goed uit. Mijn beste firenden bij het naaien van dit soort blokken zijn mijn tornmesje en een oude klantenkaart.

Another shoe with more patterns

I am busy with a few projects. All with paper pieced blocks. The mad cow family project, my shoe quilt project and mini quilts with chinaware. Zmas is not far either!!
The shoe project was meant voor shoes of the Dutch designer Jan Jansen. I used to wear his shoes long time ago. But looking for pictures of his shoes I found such a beautiful shoes of all kind of master designers. Those shoes must be a part of the quilt too! So I decide that Jan Jansen had to shore his quilt with other designers. The shoe quilt will have stiletto's I wish I could wear!make and test patterns for shoes I wish I could still wear: beautiful stiletto's.
The design of this quilt will be a wall of a modern, expensive shoe store with limited amount of shoes in the shop. I know where to find this stores in Amsterdam!

Ik heb inmiddels een paar projecten onder de hand. Het gekke koeien familie project, mijn schoenen project en de mini's van diggelwerk. Kerstmis komt er ook nog aan!!
Het schoenenproject was oorspronkelijk bedoeld voor schoenen van Jan Jansen. Lang geleden droeg ik zijn schoenen en vond ze prachtig, maar op het Intrnet vond ik veel mooie schoenen van andere ontwerpers die ook genaaid moesten worden, Dus maak ik patroontjes voor schoenen, waarvan ik zou willen dat ik ze nog kon dragen: mooie stiletto's. Alle patroontjes worden eerst getest, want de blokken voor het schoenen project moeten perfect zijn en dat zijn de blokken niet altjd als je ze voor de eerste keer maakt. Het ontwerp voor de quilt wordt de wand van een dure schoenwinkel met weinig schoenen in de winkel.

This two patterns are tested already and the patterns will not be used for my shoe quilt. I found that an important part of design shoes is the soul. I want to have my patterns black souls too. It makes the pattern more difficult but it more interesting. The first shoe I will shoe for my shoe shop will be this 10 inch RedSilverStiletto pattern.  I tested this pattern this week with cotton deyed months ago. It takes a little bit longer to sew with some tiny pieces, than the shoes above, but it is worthwhile. Now just looking for fabric with the right color red and silver for the block I will use in my quilt.

Deze twee patronen heb ik afgelopen weken getest, maar ze komen niet in mijn schoenwinkel. Bij veel designschoenen is de vaak zwarte zool een onderdeel van het design. Het patroon met zo'n zool is moeilijker, maar veel interessanter. De eerste schoen die in mijn schoenwinkel komt is deze 10 inch roo-zilver-stiletto. Het patroon testte ik deze week. Ik heb hem gemaakt van zelf geverfde katoen. Nu nog katoen vinden met de goede kleuren rood en zilver voor mijn schoenenquilt..

You can only download a 10 inch pattern . Some tiny pieces make it impossible to resize the pattern to a smaller size.

U kunt het 10 inch patroon voor eigen niet commercieel gebruik downloaden. De kleine stukjes in het patroon maken het onmogelijk het te verkleinen.

I will try paper piecing with freezer paper and starch to get the blocks better.

It is beautiful weather in the Netherlands and it will last for two more days this way. So I am going a long walk with my husband and grandson today. A nice walk at the seaside.

Omdat het zo mooi weer is ga ik vandaag eerst een mooie wandeling maken met mijn man en kleinzoon. Heerlijk in de duinen bij Castricum.

Back from Bretagne with paper pieced blocks

We had a beautiful week in Bretagne, France. Walking along the seaside and through very old villages. We enjoyed the mussels and fish. I loved our morning coffee at salon du thé 'A la Belle Meuniere'. We will be back for sure.

A café viennois

I know, I know.... but it is delicious!!!

From our house we had this wonderful view!! In the evening the cable is full with swallows.

I brought my sewing machine and a box with scraps with me to France. My husband likes to read in the night and sleaps untill ten o'clock in the morning. I am a early riser, so I sat behind my sewing machine and enjoyed the specteculair view while sewing. Beautiful sunrises. I drawed some foundation patterns and sewed some blocks. One shoe for my shoe project and some pottery blocks.I larned a lot by drawing and sewing the blocks and will improve the patterns a little.

Ik heb mijn naaimachine en een doos met restlapjes meegenomen naar Bretagne. Mijn man leest midden in de nacht en slaapt dan heerlijk uit tot tien uur, terwijl ik graag vroeg op sta. Dus kon ik 's ochtends vroeg achter mijn naaimachine zitten en ook nog eens van het spectaculaire uitzicht genieten. Ik heb wat foundation patronen getekend en wat blokken genaaid. Een schoen voor mijn schoenenproject en wat 'diggelwerk', zoals mijn moeder altijd zei.
