Funny mouse with cheese and another stacked cups pattern

It is almost December, so the Light Festival is in Amsterdam again. I was surprised by the beautiful exhibits when I walked through Amsterdam last night. In my posts I will share some pictures for everyone who can not visit Amsterdam. Like last year I will take my two eldest grandchildren on a canaltrip to enjoy all the exhibits in the dark. Salijn and Sascha will love it.

Het is bijna december dus het lichtfestival is weer in Amsterdam. Ik was weer verrast door de prachtige lichtbeelden toen ik eergisteren door de stad liep. Ik zal af en toe wat foto's delen voor degenen die niet naar Amsterdam kunnen komen. Ik neem mijn twee oudste kleinkinderen, Sascha en Salijn, mee op een rondvaart. Ze vinden dat prachtig.

Finally I started with testing my mice patterns. I finsihed the first one. My husband told me, that the mouse pattern wouldn't be recognised as a mouse, but  I thought I knew better! So I tested the pattern. I wanted a cheese block to go along with the mouse block, Mice like cheese   I draw some patterns of pieces of cheese, but I was not satisfied. Then looking for cheese pictures with google I found the inspiration. We like to cut little cubes of our Edam of Gouda cheese and stick a flag in each cube. You find this platters at parties. My little mouse got his own cheese cube with a flag. I do not know if it is Gouda cheese or Edam cheese.

Ik ben toch begonnen met het testen van mijn muispatronen en de eerste is af. Mijn man zei dat niemand er een muis in zou herkennen, maar ik dacht het toch echt beter te weten. Ik wilde een kaasblok naast het muisblok, maar was niet tevreden met de patronen die ik had getekend. Terwijl ik op google naar inspiratie zocht, zag ik schotels met kaasblokjes. Mijn muis heeft nu zijn eigen kaasblokje met vlag.

I had fun with another pattern of stacked cups and saucers. Just quilting and the binding for another Xmas present.

Ik had verder plezier met nog een patroon met gestapelde schotels en kopjes.Ik zag het plaatje zoekend met Google en wist dat ik het moest proberen. Het blok is af. Nu even quilten en afbiezen en ik heb weer een Kerstcadeau.

Stacking saucers or plates

While I am still busy designing  and sewing my mice quilts and 'fun in bath' baby quilt, I am playing again with chinaware patterns.Just for fun and because I love some f the pictures I see when I am googling for pictures, like this one: It will be my first paper pieced min!!

Terwijl ik nog steeds bezig ben met mijn muizen quilts and 'Spelen in bad' babyquilt, speel ik ook met mijn diggelwerk patronen. /Gewoon voor de lol en omdat ik gek ben op sommige plaatjes die ik zie als ik google. Bijvoorbeld dit plaatje: Dit wordt mijn eerste paper pieced mini!!

This will certainly be a pattern and a mini soon! Love this 'pile' picture!!

Guus was ill and had to stay with us this weekend.The only thing he wants, was sitting with his granddad and sleeping or watching moovies. It gives me the opportunity two design two stacked saucers patterns and to sew two placemats to show off the saucers. Together with the 'stacked cups' placemats two Xmas presents.
The first saucer pattern is a pattern you find everywhere on the WWW but I made the lowest saucer higher. You see more of the lowest plate in a pile. The second pattern is a wonky pile of  saucers. Today I publish the patterns of the saucers. The patterns of my stacked cups you find in the post of last week.

Een zieke Guus was dit weekend bij ons. Hij wilde alleen maar op opa's schoot slapen of filmpjes kijken. Zo kon ik mooi twee patronen van gestapelde schotels maken en de placemats naaien die bij mijn gestapelde kopjes placemats horen. Arme Guus en Kate! Vorige week allebei jarig en nu allebei ziek!
Het eerste patroon vind je overal op Internet, maar ik heb de onderste schotel hoger gemaakt. Je ziet van deze schotel meer in een stapel. Het tweede patroon zijn scheef gestapelde schotels. U kunt de patronen nu downloaden. De patronen van de gestapede kopjes (met een turorial) staan in een bericht van vorige week.

Stacking cups, a tutorial and free pattern

This weekend was a happy weekend with the birthday of two  of our grandchildren Guus and Kate. Every monday we take care of Guus and every thursday we have Kate with us. It is so special to see them grow this way. Every week they leaarned somethng new. A joy to be a part of their live this way!

Heerlijk weekend met de verjaardagen van onze oppaskleinkinderen Guus en Kate. Elke maandag zijn we bij Guus en elke donderdag hebben we Kate. Zo leuk om elke week te zien wat ze erbij geleerd hebben.

Looking for pictures to design chinaware paper piece patterns I love the pictures with piles of cups. I wanted to sew blocks with stacked cups and made a pattern. But when I wanted to sew the pattern, it crossed my mind, that every paper piece pattern of a cup will do. Any tea cup, coffee cup or soupe cup will do. To show you I sewed two stacked cups blocks with two different cups. I loved to free motion again and used my favourite filler. I must free motion quilt more often, it is like meditating for me.

Op zoek naar plaatjes van kopjes voor mijn diggelwerk patronen, vond ik plaatjes van gestapelde koppen. Die wilde ik naaien. Ik maakte het patroon van een plaatje met vier gestapelde koppen, maar bedacht dat je helemaal geen extra patroon nodig hebt. Elk patroon van een thee-, koffie- of soepkom is te gebruiken voor een stapel. Om dat te laten zien heb ik twee blokken genaaid van verschillende koppen. Heerlijk weer eens wat doorgestikt. Dat is zo relaxnd, bijna als mediteren.



Tutorial

This is what you need:
Find a pattern to paper piece cups or download my free pattern in different sizes.
You need cotton for the background and scratches of fabric for the cups and the ears.

Dit hebt u nodig:
Zoek een paper piecing patroon voor een kopje of download mijn gratis patroon in verschillende groottes.
U hebt restjes stof nodig voor het kopje *4 cm breder dan het kopje voor de oren en 1 cm hoger dan het kopje) en een lap voor de achtergrond.

Decide how many cups you want to stack and sew the cups with your pattern.

Beslis hoeveel kopjes u wilt stapelen en naai de kopjes met uw patroon. 

Iron the cups before stacking and decide how you want to stack them..

Strijk de kopjes en beslis hoe u ze wilt stapelen.

Before you cut the bottom of the second cup, measure the width. The bottom of the second cannot neds to be 0,25 to 0,5 inch smaller than the with of the lower cup. be cup to big. You can see why when you look at the stack of cups next to the picture of the block. If you do not want to much trouble, make the bottom 0,5 inch above the cutting line the same width as the cup.
Cut the bottom and sew the cups to each other.
Cut and sew all four cups together.

Voor u de bodem van het twee kopje snijdt, meet u de breedte van het kopje. 0,5 cm boven de snijlijn moet de bodem 0,5 tot 1 cm smaller zijn dan de breedte van het kopje. U ziet waarom als u naar de gestapelde kopjes kijkt. Wilt u niet teveel gedoe, zorg dan dat de bodem 0,5 cm boven de snijlijn evenbreed is als het kopje zelf.

Snij de bodem van het kopje en naai de kopjes aan elkaar.
Naai ook de andere kopjes aand de stapel.

Sew a piece of background fabric at the bottom and top of your stack and square the block.

Naai een stuk witte stof onder en boven aan de stapel en snij het blok op de juiste maat.

Pattern: finished size approximate: 6x8 inch    7x 10 inch    8 x 12 inch 

Pattern: finished size approximate: 7x8 inch    8x10 inch

To stack more cups you need more copies of the pattern.
Om meer koppen te stapelen heb je nog een kopietje nodig van het patroon.

To stack plates or saucers, you use the same method.
Op dezelfde manier als met kopjes stapel je borden en schotels.

If you think everything is so complicated with cutting the bottoms, you can use this ready to use pattern:

Mice, skirt and flags!

Mice mini

Busy week with a little bit of sewing and quilting. Little Kate is almost a year and we bought colorfull cottons to sew flags for het birthday and I made a skirt for her with tulle. Little girls overhere love to wear these kinds of skirts and you see them everywhere. Going to the shop to buy fabrics is more time then sewing the skirt! Kate keeps feeling the tulle with big asking eyes.I think she don't like tulle!!

Drukke week met weinig naaien en quilten. Kate is bijna jarig en we hebben kleurrijke katoentjes gekocht voor vlaggen. Ik heb een rokje met tule voor haar genaaid, zoals je hier al die kleine meiden in ziet rondlopen. Nar d winkel gaan en stof kopen duurt langer dan de rok naaien!! Kate blijgt maar aan het tule voelen met vragende ogen. Ik denk niet dat het een goede keus is voor een baby.

Someone who visited my kitten post, asked about mice patterns. A cute idea!!! So I downloaded pictures of mices, played with EQ7 and designed some mice blocks to go with the kittens. But I think I will use the blocks forplacemats for the grandchildren.

Iemand die mijn kittenbericht heeft gelzen, vroeg naar blokken met muizen. Wat een leuk idea! Ik heb dus wat plaatjes van muizen gedownload en een paar blokken gemaakt. Ik ga ze niet gebruiken bij de Kittens, maar voor placemats voor mijn kleinkinderen!

Bath time

This week we are in Utrecht to take care for two grandchildren, Sascha, our eldest and Huub her brother. I did not take my sewing machine with me, because there is no time and space to sew, but I took my computer with me. I can play with EQ7 in the evening. The last rubber ducks block,s I sewed before we left,  and the picture of little kate inspired me.

Deze week heb ik weinig kunnen naaien omdat we op onze kleinkinderen passen: Sascha, onze oudste kleinkind en haar broer Huub. Ik heb mijn  naaimachine niet meegenomen, want er is geen tijd en plaats om te naaien. Maar ik heb mijn notebook bij me en 's avonds genoeg tijd om te spelen met EQ7. De laatste eendjes die ik heb genaaid en deze foto van Kate hebben me geïnspireerd.

I downloaded pictures for toys in bath and designed some blocks. For our next grandchild what we hope to welcome around new years eve I will sew this baby quilt.
Ik heb wat afbeelding van speelgoed voor in bad gedownload en patronen voor bloken hiervan ontworpen. Voor ons volgende kleinkind dat rond oud en nieuw verwachten ga ik dit boxkleed maken.

The duck pattern can be downloaded already, but the other block patterns are available next week when I have tested the patterns with blue fabric. In Utrecht, where we are now, is a fabric market and I look forward to go there tomorrow to buy yellow and bleu fabric.. 

The patterns of the last three kitten silhouette are now ready to download. The zipfile contains pattern for 4, 6 and 9 inch blocks

Het patroon voor de eend kan al van mijn blog gedownload worden, maar de andere patronen moeten nog getest worden. Ik ga morgen naar de lappenmarkt in Utrecht en hoop mooie blauwe en gele katoen te kunnen scoren.

De patronen van de laatste drie kittens kunnen nu ook gedownload worden. Het patroon is voor blokken van 4, 6 en 9 inch.

Moka pot and rubber ducks

This week we are in a very beautiful part of The Netherlands,  to visit a good friend. It is a nice part to cycle and walk. We had lovely, sunny weather. Almost all the leaves are still green, so it is hard to believe it is autumn!

Van de week zijn we een paar dagen in Friesland, vlakbij Drente. We bezoeken een vriendin. Wat is het hier prachtig. We boffen met het mooie, zonnige weer en bijna alle bomen zijn nog groen! Het is zo moeilijk te geloven dat het al herfst is.

We live in a flat country!!

I made last weekend a pattern of a moka pot and tested the pattern for a 6 inch block. Early in the morning, when my husband is sleeping I made the pattern ready to download.

The brown moka pot a 8 inch pattern. Orange and brown are the September and October colors of Soscrappy   I do not like this colors, but since I am paperpiecing I like to use more colors. I even love the brown pot.

Ik heb in het weekend een patroontje van een  espressomaker gemaakt en een 6 inch blok genaaid met het patroon. 's Ochtends vroeg terwijl mijn man sliep, heb ik het patroon op pdf gezet, zodat het geedownload kan worden.

De bruine pot is een 8 inch block en beter gelukt.  Oranje en bruin zijn de september- en oktoberkleuren van Soscrappy. Ik hou niet van deze kleuren, maar sinds ik blokken maak met paperpiecing, maak ik van meer kleuren gebruik en ik vind de bruine koffiepot zefs mooi.

Another pattern I made this week is this rubber duck. You can download a zipfile with the patterns of 4, 6, 8 and ten inch block. With the patterns are templates to cut the fabrics  You can use the paper piece patterns or piece the blocks without paper.

Eenander patroon dat ik van de week gemaakt heb, is dit patroon van een badeend. U kan een zipbestand downloaden met de patronen voor 4,6,8 en 10 inch blokken. Bij de patronen zijn mallen om de stof te knippen. De blokken kunnen daarmee met papier of gewoon genaaid kunnen worden.

I will use this little block for a little present for the mother of a new born baby. I will sure use this block for a baby quilt in the near future. It is easy to sew and it is a nice block to play with colors and fabrics.

Ik gebruik dit kleine blokje voor een kadootje voor de moeder van een pas geboren baby. Maar het blok is eenvoudig te naaien en gele eendjes kunnen afgewisseld worden met andere kleuren. Ik zal zeker een leuke baby quilt maken met deze blokken of placemats voor mijn klleinste kleinkinderen.
