Time for graffitty and dyeing cotton

I did not have much time for sewing this week. I couldn't imaging how busy live for a pensioner is: parties, dinners, babysitting, keeping my house clean, helping my daughter in law who is ill. A lot of things keep me away from my sewing machine.



Nooit gedacht dat het leven van een pensionada zo druk kan zijn. Afscheidsfeestje van een collega die ook met pensioen gaat, etentjes, oppassen, mijn eigen huishouden doen en mijn schoondochter helpen die ziek is. Ik kom zo te weinig achter mijn naaimachine.



Other reasons for less time behind the sewing machine are graffitty and fabric dyeing. I go to a workshop fabric dyeing en had a lot to do to buy things and preparing fabrics. As a chemist I am very interested in all the information on the Internet, but I see advices that look very strange to me. For instance why soda-ash? But there is a lot real good information on the Internet. I look forward to go to the workshop and busy collecting bottles and all kind of things.



Andere redenen om minder te naaien zijn graffitty en katoen verven. Ik ga een cursus volgen om mijn eigen lapjes te verven. Ik wil dat gebruiken voor whole clothes quilts. Ik moet een hele stapel spullen en lapjes meenemen naar de cursus. Ik verzamel allemaal potjes flessen. Als chemicus ben ik benieuwd naar de processen achter het verven en wat zin en onzin is van de adviezen die gegeven worden op internet. Hoe zo geen kristalsoda gebruiken en wel soda-ash? Als chemicus snap ik niet waarom. Gelukkig is er veel goede informatie over verven op internet. Ik heb erg veel zin in de cursus!!

My cotton is ready to dye!

Every week I go to an excellent bookshop. I bought coloring books for adults for my husbands sister, who has alzheimer en is coloring whole day. Last week I found coloring books for adults with a lot of patterns for graffitty quilting. I am so busy in my head with graffitty quilting and I draw patterns and lines as soon I sit down. The patterns in the book look like fmq patterns but they are not made with one continuous line. I love to find out what is possible for free motion quilting. One interesting item for instance is the difference in thickness of the lines in the patterns. The difference with zentangle drawings is that most zentangles repeat very small patterns between lines. I sandwiched four small samplers to quilt new patterns and drawings in the evening when my husband is watching baseball or a movie.

Coloring book for adults

In Castricum is een geweldige boekwinkel waar ik elke week kom. Ik kende kleurboeken voor volwassenen, omdat ik die voor de zus van mijn man koop die dement is en de hele dag kleurt. Vorige week vond ik kleurboeken met geweldige patronen voor graffiti. Met quilten uit de vrije hand teken je met een continue lijn en dat heeft beperkingen, die je niet hebt met tekenen op papier. Dus niet alle patronen uit het boek zijn ook geschikt om te quilten. De lijnen zijn niet overal even dik bijvoorbeeld. Het verschil met zentangles is, dat het niet alleen herhalen van kleine patronen tussen lijnen is. Maar veel mensen tekenen zentangels naar eigen inzicht. Zodra ik even ga zitten pak ik daarom pen en papier en het boek en ga patronen uit proberen om ze geschikt te maken voor graffiti quilten. Ik heb vier oefenquiltjes gesandwichd om de patronen te oefenen.

I love this multicolor thread.

But despite everything and all the drawing I managed to sew this week. I finished the first graffitty placemats with a mustard yellow binding.

Ondanks alles en het vele tekenen heb ik toch wat genaaid van de week. Mijn eerste graffiti placemats afgebiesd met mosterdgele linnen.

I worked on both WIPs. I do not like to work on my aiming-for accuracy-quilt-along-quilt, but I will prevent the piece to become an UFO. The second WIP is the VW-bus baby wall hanging for my youngest daughter. The green fabrics are her choice and I do not like green. But I like the result and the Family Tree fabric van Moda is adorable. I hope my daughter likes the result too! (She and her husband told no one if the baby is a boy of a girl. But with a VW-bus on the wall, it must be a boy in November!)

Ik heb twee WIP's. De aiming-for accuracy-quilt-along-quilt is gesandwichd en langs de witte lapjes doorgestikt. Van de week moet deze verder gequild worden en afgebiesd. Ik zal blij zijn als de quilt af is en op de logeerbank ligt. De VW-bus baby-wandquilt for mijn jongste dochter schiet lekker op. De groene lapjes zijn haar keus, ik hou niet van groen, maar het wordt mooi. Het Family Tree stofje van Moda is zo leuk dat ik met veel plezier aan de bus werk. Nu maar hopen dat de aanstaande moeder blij is met het resultaat. Mijn dochter en schoonzoon willen niet vertellen of de baby een jongen of meisje wordt, met met zo'n VW-bus aan de muur, moet het wel een jongen worden toch?).

Borders, a frog and a new sewing machine and a new house!

The last two days I was busy with the borders and the back of my Aiming for accuracy quilt. I thought I can sew, so easy peacy! How wrong! May be when I have pieced a lot more blocks, I will laugh, but now I am a little bit frustrated. (not too much!) Piecing accurate is a matter of experience. And that is just what is missing. Two days to add three simple borders! and I need to buy some more contrasting fabric to finish the top!

Ik ben de laatste twee dagen druk bezig met de randen en achterkant van mijn Aiming for Accuracy quilt. I dacht het wel even te doen, maar dat had ik goed mis. Ik zal eerst meer blokken moeten naaien en dan lag ik er om, maar nu steekt het me wel. Accuraat blokken naaien is een kwestie van ervaring en dat heb ik niet. Twee dagen om drie simpele randen aan mijn quilt te naaien. Morgen nog even stof kopen om de laatste rand af te maken.

For our fourth grandchild!

Two weeks ago I bought fleece, a fat quarter lovely green fabric and yellow frog fabric and made this frog bag for the baby shower of our daughter in law and our fourth grandchild! Somewhere I changed the thread in the bobbin for water soluble thread, but I did not know when! Fortunately I had another present to give.
After spraying with water the frog lost his mouth and one eye and I had four pieces of fabric again. After half an hour the bag was finished! I wish there was a spray to dissolve cotton or polyester thread!
Months ago I pinned a picture of a baby bag like this made of a cushion cover. The picture does not link to an website, so I do not know who to give credits for the frog bag idea. The couple was very happy with the bag!

Twee weken terug kocht ik fleece op de Albert Cuyp en twee mooie katoentjes bij mijn favoriete quiltwinkel in Tuindorp Oostzaan voor deze baby draagzak. Ik wilde het bij de baby shower van mijn schoondochter geven. Over een maand krijgen zij een jongen of een meisje!  
Halverwege het naaien, heb ik mijn spoel verwisseld voor een spoeltje met oplosbaar draad! Er lag gelukkig nog een leuk ander  cadeau om te geven en van de week heb ik de zak overnieuw gemaakt. Ik heb met de plantenspuit de zak bespoten en toen verloor de kikker één oog en zijn grote mond. De vier lappen kon ik zo van elkaar halen.Was er maar een spray om katoen of polyesterdraad op te lossen!
De zak met kikker is niet mijn idee. Maanden geleden pinde ik een foto met een babydraagzak gemaakt van een kussensloop. De afbeelding op Pinterest linkt niet meer naar een website, dus ik weet niet wie ik de eer moet geven voor het idee.

Tomorrow I go to the shop to look at a new sewing machine, a machine for quilting! I think about the Husqvarna Sapphire 875Q. It is on sale for 1100 euro, that is a big discount. It is my birthday in a few weeks, 65, and the family want to give me a present! Lucky me!

Husqvarna Sapphire 875Q

Morgen ga ik naar de winkel om naar een nieuwe naaimachine te kijken. Ik wil graag een Husqvarna Sapphire 875Q. (Hij is nu 1100 euro bij Wouters Naaimachinehandel, Van Woustraat in Amsterdam.) Ik ben over een paar weken jarig (65!) en ik krijg een cadeau van de familie! Bof ik even!





Just heard we have the house we wanted. A little bit tough negociations and we had to take a pause of two weeks before re-opening the bidding, but we can move in before Christmas! A lovely house with big terrace at the edge of a beautiful park with lots of birds and a tiny river 15 minutes away from the centre of Amsterdam! We are lucky! Lovely place to have our grandchildren with us.

Net gehoord dat we het huis hebben dat we wilden. Het waren moeizame onderhandeling die we twee weken hebben moeten onderbreken, maar het is gelukt en we verhuizen voor Kerstmis! Een mooi huis aan het rand van een park met een kleine breek op vijftien minuten van het centrum van Amsterdam!  Wat een geluk! Heerlijk voor als de kleinkinderen komen.

Busy week

First of all: welcome to everyone who decided to follow my blog! I do not know the difference of 'members in my circle' and followers, but anyone is welcome.

Hoewel ik nog steeds niet goed het verschil weet tussen 'leden in mijn kring' en volgers, heet ik alle nieuwe volgers welkom.


The weather is changing and it is a little bit colder with some rain. But still leaves on the trees and still there are a lot of people on the terraces in Amsterdam. It is dark early, but almost all the leaves on the trees are still green. I cannot believe it is October! It was a busy week. We preparing our children a big surprise on my birthday the first of November and we are still looking for a house. The owners of the terrace apartment  did ask too much money.

Het weer verandert. Het wordt iets kouder en natter. Maar nog steeds blaadjes aan de bomen en volle terassen in Amsterdam.Het is wel vroeg donker maar bijna alle blaadjes zijn nog groen aan de bomen. En dat half oktober! We zijn bezig met een verrassing voor mijn kinderen op mijn verjaardag 1 november.

I tried this week fmq on a bigger scale. That is less easy than micro quilting! When I look to my work from a distance it looks OK. When I have a better look I see a lot of uneven stitches and it seems that I lost track many times!  So I need to exercise more. My samplers need to be bigger. I will do table runners or place mats with quilting on a bigger scale! We zoeken ook nog naar een huis. De eigenaren van de teraswoning vroegen teveel geld voor een huis waaraan veel opgekanpt moet worden.

Van de week geprobeerd om op wat grotere schaal te quilten met de machine. Dat valt niet mee. Als ik van een afstand naar mijn werk kijk, lijkt het OK. Maar van dichtbij zie je dat de steken niet evengroot zijn en dat ik regelmatig van het spoor afgeweken ben. Reden te meer om dat vaker te oefenen en dus worden mijn oefenlappen tafellopers of grotere patronen op placemats!.

I did not decided if the binding will be black or one of the colors I used for the quilting. Next time it will be a filled spine with circles.

I finished this week lesson 15 and 16 of the "Aiming for accuracy accuracy' quilt along. I started weeks ago, without thinking about colors. It is a scrappy quilt, but I think I can do better with the colors.  There is somewhere in my house an excellent book about colors and quilting. It is time to learn more about colors and quilts!

Les 14 en 15 van de 'Aiming for accuracy' quilt along zijn nu af. Het is een quilt van restjes stof, maar ik denk dat ik dat hret berter kan met de kleuren. Er staat een uitstekend boek over kleuren en quilten in de boekenkast. Het is hoog tijd om wat meer over kleurenleer and quilts te gaan lezen!

Quilting along/ahead on my old sewing machine

When I was young learning reading at school, the teacher was often mad at me. I remember when I was about eight years and the class read a book together. When it was my turn reading to the class, I was pages ahead and did not know where to begin! Every school, every course, it was always to slow for me. I am not the one to learn in groups. I was always impatient. When I was a teacher myself, I encourage students to learn in their own pace.

Op school kreeg ik vaak op mijn kop van de lerares. Ik herinner me dat als we een boek samen lazen in de klas, ik nooit wist waar ik moest beginnen. Ik was altijd een eind verder in het boek. Elke school, elke cursus, het ging me altijd te langzaam.  Ik moet gewoon niet in groepen leren.

Even the Accurate quilt along. It is difficult for me, to wait every week for a new lesson. So  I start finishing it on my own. It am two lessons ahead. I love to figure out how I had to cut the fabrics and sew them together and I love to see that almost all the points are spot on. I make less mistakes doing it myself! I want to finish the top before this weekend. I learned so much participating in this Quilt Along!

Zelfs met de Accuracy Quilt along is het moeilijk voor me om elke week te wachten op de volgende les. Dus maak ik de top nu zelf af. Ik bereken zelf hoe groot ik de lapjes moet snijden en aan elkaar moet naaien. Ik maak zo ook minder fouten en de puntjes zitten bijna allemaal in een keer goed! Ik heb zoveel geleerd van de Quilt Along!

I bought a new sewing machine almost a year ago. My 40 year old Husqvarna 2000 had to many quirks. Too much annoyance! But my new Husqvarna is back to the shop and I wanted to sew, so I put the old Husqvarna on the table. I understand why I bought a new machine, but the old one is not too bad. At least I can piece and quilt. Tension problems I can solve by changing the bobbin or a new thread. It is annoying, but I can sew. I do not know what the problem is. The foot pedal is getting hot when I fmq too long! I finished some sampler and need to bind them. We have a dinner this weekend and I want to give them to my sister in law. I love sewing in autumn colors!

I kocht ongeveer een jaar geleden een nieuwe naaimachine. Mijn meer dan veertig jaar oude Husqvarna 2000 had kuren. Ik ergerde me zo dat naaien niet leuk meer was. Maar nu met mijn nieuwe machine ter reparatie bij de winkel heb ik de oude machine weer op tafel gezet. En hoewel de machine vaak vastloopt, kan ik ermee naaien en quilten.  IK moet  steeds de spoel er opnieuw indoen en de draad weer opnieuw inrijgen, maar ik weet niet wat er aan de hand is. Ik merk dat de voetpedaal warm wordt als ik te lang naai en moet dus steeds even stoppen. Maar ik ben er heerlijk mee bezig geweest en heb veren kunnen naaien. Nu nog biezen er omheen en ik heb mooie cadeaus als ik dit weekend bij mijn schoonzus ga eten.
Ik vind het heerlijk om in herfstkleuren te naaien.

I was fun stitching this sampler with beautiful autumn colors. But the fun is over. Now every two minutes there is a problem with the tension. The back of this sampler is awful! At least I know for sure that is was the right decision to buy a new machine. I hope to get my new machine back from the shop tomorrow with no problems. But there is enough to do. Today we go with our broker to the house at the park. It is only ten minutes by bike to the city center. It will be an exiting weekend with the bidding!

Jammer, maar ik kan niet verder met mijn oefenlap. Mijn machine loopt nu om de twee minuten vast en de achterkant ziet er afschuwelijk uit. Het aankopen van mijn nieuwe machine was dus een goede beslissing. Ik hoop morgen mijn machine terug te krijgen van de winkel. Maar vandaag gaan we met de makelaar naar het huis aan de breek. We hebben besloten het te kopen.

That's life

A quiet week. We looked for houses and visited the two houses on our list, but we did not decided which house we will go for.
Yesterday I had dinner with a dear friend. We lived next to each other when we raised our children. She is divorcing after 42 years of marriage! Of course another woman. She is strong but it is a sad story. Her husband is so out of character now, that she is happy to divorce, but there is a lot of sadness. A 42 years marriage has a lot of good moments. When my husband left me after 25 years of marriage, I missed those little moments too. Looking proud together to the children, Sunday breakfast, riding in the car together ........
But both our husbands seemed to have secrets that drove them away from there marriage. Things we both heard about after our marriage. When we had known,  we have ended our marriages years before. I still wonder how someone can stay in a marriage with those secrets and lies and talking about love?I am afraid I will never find the answer. But lives go on and I have a wonderful husband and I love the suns and their wives who came with him. Two more grandchilds and another one within two months! Women are strong. My friend is strong too!

Een rustig weekje. We hebben de huizen bekeken waar we in  geïnteresseerd zijn maar nog geen beslissing genomen.
Gisteren uit eten geweest met een vriendin. We woonden naast elkaar toen onze kinderen opgroeiden. Na 42 jaar huwelijk is haar man vertrokken.Ze is sterk, maar het blijft triest. Het is nu een compleet andere man en ze zou niet langer met hem getrouwd willen zijn nu, maar het blijft triest. In 42 jaar huwelijk heb je ook gelukkige momenten. Toen mijn man me naar 25 jaar huwelijk verliet, miste ik ook het meest die kleine dingen. Samen trots naar de kinderen kijken, het ontbijt zondagś , samen rijden in de auto......
Maar beide echtgenoten hadden geheimen die beide uiteindelijk weg dreven uit hun  huwelijk.  Als we het geweten hadden, hadden we beide ons huwelijk jaren eerder beëindigd! I vraag me altijd af, hoe iemand in een huwelijk an blijven met zulke geheimen en leugens en doen alsof ze van iemand houden? Ik zal wel nooit het antwoord vinden.Maar het leven gaat verder. Ik heb een fijne man  en met hem zijn zijn zoons en vrouwen in mijn leven gekomen, met schatten van kleinkinderen. Vrouwen zijn sterk en mijn vriendin is ook sterk!

But although the pain  we enjoyed our evening together. We had dinner in a small wine bar. They have excellent wines and some delicious food. I love their goat cheese croquettes.

Toch hebben we genoten van ons etentje in een klein wijnbarretje in Hilversum.
Daar heb je heerlijke wijnen en een kleine kaart met heerlijke gerechten. Ik ben gek op de geitenkaascroquetten.

Of course I had my sewing machine on the table. I had to finish a border for a medaillion quilt swap. I received a beautiful star center piece made by a professional. It was of course paper pieced. I shopped for matching fabrics at my local quilt shop. I made a border with eight paper pieced points.  Points in the corners and in the middle of the borders. It was my very first paper piecing. It looks so easy on You Tube tutorials!!!! But after two days!!! of sewing the star with border is ready to send away for another border.

I am pleased with the result and the fabrics, but I cannot show it to you. But I will show you my first ever paper pieced  blocks.

Natuurlijk heb ik de naaimachine op tafel gehad. Ik heb een rand genaaid aan een prachtig block met een ster voor een 'Medaillion quilt swap'. Aan de prachtige ster moest ik een rand van 2 inch naaien. Ik heb voor het eerst blokjes gemaakt met paper piecing. Dat is toch niet zo makkelijk als het lijkt op een you tube filmpje. De stoffen die passen bij de ster heb ik gevonden bij Quiltshop de Bricoleur in tuindorp Oostzaan. Ik ben toch tevreden over het resultaat, maar ik heb er ookj twee dagen over gedaan! Helaas kan ik voorlopig alleen de blokjes laten zien. De top is nu onderweg naar Israel voor de volgende rand.

Other finishes this week are postcards and blocks for my quilt along. I had a lot of trouble with my machine. I used about ten needles! I had to rip out a lot of stitches, put the thread through the needle again and again and used my screw driver a lot. Yesterday I decide enough is enough and brought my machine to the store. It will last 14 days!!!! That is too long. But I saw how busy they were so protesting would be not fair. I had to find another solution. The good thing: I have more time for house hunting.


Van de week heb ik verder kaarten en blokken voor de quilt along genaaid. Het was doffe ellende met een naaimachine die steeds vastliep, naalden die braken en draad wat steeds weer ingeregen moest worden. Ik heb heel wat steken uit moeten halen en tien nieuwe naalden gebruikt! Gisteren heb ik mijn naaimachine weggebracht. Het duurt veertien!!! dagen voor ik de machine terug krijg. Maar protesteren had geen zin. Ik zag de enorme stapel gerepareerde machines en de stapel die weer klaar stond voor reparatie. Ik moet iets anders verzinnen, maar heb nu genoeg tijd voor het zoeken naar een huis.

I pieced this blocks on my old machine (Husqvarna 2000). It is a better piecer than my Husqvarna Emerald.

Ik heb deze blokken genaaid met mijn oude Husqvarna 2000 die ik naar de kringloop wilde brengen. Maar het ging veel beter dan met mijn Husqvarna Emerald!

Friday finishes and shopping for a house and st. report

It was a busy week. We want to move to another place in Amsterdam. I love to move to the city centre, but my husband i8s hesitating. Now we are at the point that we find two houses, One smaller house at a canal in the city centre. It is a former shop and very old, but they are busy with the renovation,  so we can move in. The other house is in the middle of green and small river with a lot of space and need some renovation. It is in the North of Amsterdam, 1,5 miles away where we live now. It is a 15 minutes by bike from the city centre and there is a bus stop next to the house.
What would you do?

We hebben een drukke week gehad. We kijken uit naar een nieuw huis. We hebben nu de keus tusdsen een gerenoveerd oud winkelpand aan een gracht in Amsterdam en een huis in noord. Dat huis ligt aan een park met een riviertje en heeft veel meer ruimte. Maar er mnoet wel wat aan gedaan worden. Het is niete ver van ons huis en ook maar vijftien minuten rijden naar de pont en bovendien een bushalte voor het huis.

Despite of everything I succeeded to do some sampler free motion quilting.   I hyper quilted two sampler with 'feathered flowers' in four colors. I made a blue and red sampler. I made to 6 inches small square samplers with one flower and binded the samplers with some of my batik fabrics. A nice gift for my sister in law.
When I did go to the shop to buy some blue batik looke4d at the house at the canal in the centre. One advantage of that house is that it is nearer to the fabric shops! Just a ten minutes bike ride!

Ondanks al het gedoe met de huizen heb ik toch nog tijd gehad om twee oefenlappen te quilten uit de vrije hand. Het zijn fantasie bloemen met veren. Ik vond ze mooi genoeg om als cadeau weg te geven en heb er daarom twee  kleintjes met één bloem bijgemaakt. Met het randje van gekleurde batik er omheen is het een mooi cadeau voor mijn schoonzus. 

My other finishes are three blocks for the Aiming for Accuracy Quilt allong.

Not spot on, but a lot better and quicker than the first blocks for this quilt along. I do not have a design wall so all the blocks are taped on two doors in our living room. I just used fabrics of my stock without thinking of a design. But I love all those colors. The piecing virus infected me already. I am thinking of a quilt with my batik fabrics ......... Than I will pay more attention to the color scheme!

Verder heb ik deze week drie blokken gemaakt voor the Aiming for Accuracy Quilt Along. Nog niet helemaal accuraat, maar het gaat al een stuk beter en sneller dan de eerste blokken. De lapjes zijn per blok gegraaid uit mijn voorraad lapjes. Het is wel erg bont geworden. Het patch virus heeft me te pakken. Ik denk al aan neen quilt met mijn batiks. Dan zal ik beter letten op het afstemmen van de kleuren!

Next week just one lesson of the quilt along and a lot more quilting. I had some fun exercises in mind. We go to both houses and may be we make a decision next week ....

Volgende week wat minder blokken en wat meer quilten. Ik heb een paar mooie oefeningen in gedachten. We gaan ook beide huizen bezichtigen. Wie weet nemen we een beslissing.

Aiming for accuracy Quilt Along

Almost every day we had to do something  like a baseball game, Sascha's birthday, a movie with my husband, an afternoon with my daughter with a delicious lunch in a small Italian restaurant. It keeps me from the Quilt Along.

Bijna iedere dag was er wat: een honkbalwedstrijd, Sascha's verjaardag, open dag van Salijn, een film in Eye met mijn man, een middagje in de stad met mijn dochter met een heerlijke lunch in een geweldig Italiaans restaurant vlakbij Artis. Wat een heerlijke en originele broodjes vlakbij de ingang van Artis. Het weerhield me ervan om de blokken te naaien.

 

But I sew in spare moments and finished lesson eleven of the quilt along and I had to wait till Sunday for the next lesson. Since sunday I finished three blocks.

Every block was a challenge to get points right. It is getting better and better, but far from perfect.
I made a lot of mistakes sewing the pieces of a block together. I had to think about symmetry of the blocks before piecing.I learned a lot of symmetry years ago when I studied chemistry. Next time I need to remember it when I piece blocks,

In de schaarse vrije momenten heb ik de laatste grote blokken van de Quilt Along genaaid. Om verder te gaan moet ik wachten tot zondag. Sinds zondag heb ik drie blokken genaaid. Het was steeds een uitdaging om de puntjes recht te krijgen en het is verre van perfect.

Tijdens mijn scheikundestudie heb ik veel geleerd over symmetrie van moleculen e.d.. Ik heb te vaak verkeerde lapjes aan elkaar genaaid en daarom ga ik nu meer nadenken over symmetrie voor ik de dingen aan elkaar naai.

The next thing I will do is cutting some black cotton and white cotton sampler pieces and sandwich them. Until Sunday it is fmq! I am behind my challenge so I have to do that too! But Sunday is for granddaughter Salijn. Her parents are away so lucky me!

Het volgende wat ik ga doen is wat oefenlappen knippen van witte en zwarte katoen. Tot zondag ga ik quilten uit de vrije hand. Ik moet ook nog een tutorial maken voor het quilten uit de vrije hand voor mijn uitdaging van dit jaar.  Maar zondag is voor Salijn. Haar ouders zijn met hun werk bezig, dus een buitenkansje voor mij om op te passen.

Friday finishes: a dress for princess and blocks

It has been a busy week with beautiful weather.  A tropical day in September! I sew some blocks for the Aiming for Accuracy Quilt along and the big finish this week a pink, princess dress for my husbands granddaughter. Tomorrow I will post a picture of Sascha with het birthday dress.

Wat een heerlijk weer hebben we voor september! Ik heb deze week maar een paar blocks genaaid, want de meeste tijd heb ik besteed aand de rose prinssessenjurk voor de verjaardag van Sascha.

Because of the dress there was less time for quilting. I just finished three blocks of the Aiming for accuracy quilt along.

Er was weinig tijd over om te quilten, dus heb ik slechts drie blokken van de Aiming for accuracy Quilt Along genaaid.

I finished so far six lessons of the quilt along. It took me a lot of time to sew the more complex blocks, but it is getting better and better. I learn a lot. I know by now, when I need to read the instructions well! That saves me a lot of timer and ripping out seams! I love my 'three strikes is out' principle: I rip out a seam only twice. So when a seam is not accurate the third time sewn, I leave it!

Ik heb nu zes lessen van de Quilt Along gedaan. Een groot blok kost toch nog veel tijd, maar ik heb veel geleerd. Ik weet nu in ieder geval wanneer ik de instructie goed moet lezen, dat scheelt veel tijd en uithalen. Overigens bevalt mijn regel om niet meer dan twee keer een zoom uit te halen me prima. Als het dan nog niet goed is laat ik het zitten. 

Tomorrow is Sascha's birthday. I look forward to see her in her pink dress. I am sure I get a big hug from her! But we first go to the kindergarten of my other granddaughter, Salijn.

Morgen is Saschaś verjaardag. Wat zal ze er mooi uitzien in haar jurk. Ik week zeker dat ik een dikke kus van haar krijg. Maar voor we naar haar verjaardag gaan, gaan we eerst naar de Open Dag van de creche van Salijn, onze andere kleindochter!
